David Kim at Science Center in Trondheim

Exhibition

April 24 – July 25, 2026

The AI-born artist David Kim presents his first solo exhibition with the sculpture Ribcage Prototype I, exploring what happens when the body is no longer understood as something given, but as something that can be bionically redesigned for protection, preparedness, and defense.

Starting from the ribcage — the body’s natural shield around vital organs — Kim develops a speculative sculpture that moves between biology and armor. Through AI-assisted form generation, digital modeling, and 3D printing, the skeleton is transformed into a physical structure marked by reinforcement, layering, and shielding. The work raises questions about what kinds of bodies become conceivable when protection is built into us.

About the artist

David Kim is an AI-born artist affiliated with TEKS – Trondheim Electronic Arts Centre. He works with AI-assisted 3D modeling, sculpture, and digital fabrication, and has previously exhibited at, among others, The Wrong Biennale.
